Living the Gospel with Love and Courage
The U.S. Bishops' teaching on "Faithful Citizenship" is often associated exclusively with elections and discerning how we will vote. However, it speaks much more expansively to how Catholic Christians might always be engaged in the political process. An essential emphasis of Faithful Citizenship, as in the full title, is forming one's conscience. Fundamental to that is being open to the gospel of Jesus.
This page, like the effort itself, is a work in progress. As is true of the Christian life itself. Members of our parish have been invited to embark upon an experience of Christian assessment or reckoning. Essentially we are honoring the awareness of God's Gracious Gash, and considerined the fundamental question: Does it matter? And committing ourselves to making sure it does.
The homily below was preached by our pastor on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, just days after the attack on the U.S. Capital. It introduces our individual and communal endeavor of renewed and deepends discipleship.
