Living the Gospel with Love and Courage
Disciple Formation isn’t just for young people. That’s a fundamental principle of our Disciple Small Groups forming the first week of October. Parishioners of various ages, backgrounds, likes and dislikes are encouraged to gather to consider how we can respond more eagerly to the call of Jesus to live the gospel with greater love and greater courage.
Disciple Small Groups will meet at the following times:
● 6 p.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 30
● 5 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 1;
● 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Oct. 2;
● Noon Thursdays beginning Oct. 3.
All gatherings will be in the Fireside Room, downstairs from the parish offices, last one hour.
Parishioners are invited to attend the small group gathering that is most convenient to your schedule. You may not know anyone in your small group when you begin, but after a week or two you will.
The group conversations will be guided by the readings of the previous Sunday and Pope Francis’ teaching “The Joy of the Gospel.” This is not a book club, however, and “home-work” is not an expectation.
Small group goals include:
● Encountering Christ more deeply;
● Sharing a stronger, intergenerational experience of community;
● Finding the language and familiarity to talk about faith;
● Becoming more deeply engaged through service and ministry.
Small groups have become very prominent and popular at many parishes across the country. These groups have been likened to a swimming pool — moving from the shallow end and into the deep. In The Joy of the Gospel, Pope Francis writes about a new chapter in living the Christian life. Here’s our chance to begin a new chapter together.
